In Extra Mode, you’ll see your KOF games turn way more aggressive. Extra Mode- For the KOF Player Looking To Spice Things Up After all, base KOF ’98 is fun- and this is a great mode to play where players won’t feel like any character has any particular advantage over the other (outside of their inherent strengths and weaknesses). If you’ve no interest in messing with the intricacies brought about by KOF 98’s systems, advanced mode is a good choice to pick. It’s great for approaching since you can easily end up close to your opponent after surviving one of their pokes- but use it too close-range and you might even mix yourself up. Like other KOF games, you also have your evasion move- this allows you to avoid incoming attacks, but manifests in the form of a dodge roll which means that any positioning you had will have to be readjusted to account for the roll. Here, characters will behave just like your standard fighting game: Meter is gained via dealing and taking damage, and doing a double-forwards or backwards input simply gets your character running. Follow Mode- For The KOF Fan Who Likes Things SimpleĪdvanced Mode is the closest you’ll get to a KOF 98 experience that’s simple. ![]()
